Thank you to all the people that knitted and crocheted for our Veterans to remind them how much they are cared about. People used their left-over yarn from other projects. This “left over” yarn made beautiful, colorful, lap blankets. The lap blankets were delivered to the local Vermont Veterans Home. Earlene Lefebvre, Willie Siedlarz, Tami Deblois and Normajean thank you!!!!! Thank you to all that donated snacks, candy, books, and toiletries to the Veterans over the holiday ~ these items were much appreciated.
Thank you also to all that participated in the remembrance tree this year. We celebrated 27 years. The list can be viewed at the town office, Facebook page or library.

IMPORTANT MEETING ~ Tuesday, January 13, 2026 @ 6 p.m.
The Readsboro School Board invites community members to attend a Town Hall – style meeting to learn more about the impact of Act 73 and discuss an important question: How does a small rural school like Readsboro fit into Act 73? This meeting is intended to be an open, informative conversation about the legislation, what we currently know, and how it may relate to Readsboro School and our community. We encourage parents, guardians, and all community members to attend, listen and participate in this important discussion about the future of education in Readsboro.

Fire Department
The threat of winter fires is real. Use these statistics to help your community understand how severe these fires can be. 890 people die in winter home fires each year. $2 billion in property loss occurs each year from winter home fires. Winter home fires account for only 8 percent of the total number of fires in the U.S., but result in 30 percent of all fire deaths. Cooking is the leading cause of all winter home fires. Remember to keep fire hydrants clear from snow and ice. Remember snow may accumulate in front of exhaust/vents ~ High-efficiency furnaces pose a specific CO threat in winter. The manufacturers use a unique venting and sealed combustion system that has a sidewall vent not seen with standard furnaces. If you make sure such sidewall venting is clear of snow or ice, it will continue to provide a secure way for CO to escape the house. That means you and your family should remain safe. When it snows or ice forms on the vents, they can become clogged. When the CO is blocked from getting out, it can be pushed back into your home and could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. After a snowstorm or ice storm, or when the temperatures are extremely low, you should go out and visually inspect the vents. Keeping them clear will help avoid CO poisoning. If there’s a lot of snow, clear a path of 2 to 3 feet around each vent. If you see ice forming on the vents, gently knock it off without damaging the pipes.
****It’s that time of year again!!! Join the Readsboro Fire Dept annual 50/50 raffle. $50 for the year ~ a winner every month. Even if your ticket is drawn you are eligible for the rest of the year. Contact the fire dept to purchase ~ thank you for your support!
